“DOOM: The Dark Ages – Apocalypse” will launch a brand-new “Slaughter Mode” free update next month.

id Software, the developer of DOOM: The Dark Ages, has announced that a new free update for the first-person shooter’s “Apocalypse” DLC will launch next month: an endless single-player “Slaughter Mode.”

As announced today during the Slayers Club Live stream by Doom: The Dark Ages Game Director Hugo Martin, Slaughter Mode will be “an endless single-player mode where players battle escalating waves of demons across multiple arenas, earning cosmetics and setting personal best records for rounds or scores.”

Although id Software hasn’t announced a specific release date for the “Slaughter Mode” update, we can rule out November 19th! If you haven’t yet played the spectacular The Dark Age or its excellent expansion, Apocalypse, now is the perfect time!

Fortunately, id Software remains operational following the layoffs earlier this year. Those layoffs prompted id co-founders John Romero and John Carmack to comment on the situation, which in turn drew a response from the studio and Martin himself.
